Cake pops for Grownups (Dark Chocolate Rum Balls)
Tidbits...All of the sugary candy coated cake pops that I have tried do not suit my taste. These pops are designed with grownups in mind. I love the luscious bite-size liquor laced balls when dipped in bitter good quality dark chocolate or white chocolate.
Ingredients
- Good Quality Chocolate Bar - 200 g. (75% cocoa or more)
- Basic dark chocolate cake - 1
- Toppings - For dipping
Instructions
- Crumble cake or ½ cake (freeze the other part for future use)
- For each ½ cake moisten with 3 Tbl. of one of the following, mixed with 2 Tbl. powdered sugar. (Mascarpone, cream cheese, nutella, cooked frosting, jam or liqueurs).
- Roll into balls then refrigerate for at least one hour
- Dip in melted chocolate (bitter chocolate) if chocolate is too thick dilute with 1 or 2 T seed oil. While chocolate is still soft dip or sprinkle tops with slivered almonds, chopped walnuts, pistacchio, hazelnuts, coconut, sprinkles, cocoa , ground espresso
- Put in small pastry papers or on sticks.
- Refrigerate 2 hours or until chocolate hardens.
