Brussel Sprouts with Chestnuts
Tidbits... Brussels sprouts never tasted so good! The chestnuts and red pepper flakes complete this flavorful side dish.
Ingredients
- Brussel sprouts - 500 g
- Chestnuts - 200 g
- Ginger - 1 tsp. powdered
- Hot pepper flakes - 1 tsp.
- Olive Oil - 2 T
Instructions
- Peel hard outer shell of raw chestnuts and peel off as much of the inner skin as you can and any that remains can be removed easily after they are boiled.
- Cook in boiling salted water until tender but slightly firm (not mushy) Drain and remove any dark skin that remains.
- Trim off ends of brussel sprouts and boil in lightly salted water until tender (not mushy)
- Drain.
- In a saute pan add olive oil, chestnuts and brussel sprouts and toss with the ginger and hot pepper flakes for about 5 minutes. Serve hot.
