Mom's Cinnamon Rolls
Tidbits...I can smell the sweet aroma of cinnamon and hot rolls in my mom's kitchen. This recipe always takes me back to those special years.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Scald milk, then dissolve sugar, butter and salt. Cool to lukewarm.
- In a large bowl add yeast to warm water and 1 tsp. sugar. Let rise.
- Add the warm milk mixture, egg and 2 cups of the flour. Mix well then add the rest of the flour and mix until well blended.
- Turn out onto floured surface ( ½ cup additional flour or more as needed) and knead. Put into buttered bowl, cover with a kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled.
- Punch down and roll out into a long, narrow rectangle.
- Rub with softened butter then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture. Roll up like a jelly roll and slice. Use 9 inch round disposable aluminum pans. Place 6 rolls around edge of pan and 1 roll in center.
- Let rise until doubled, approximately 45 min. to 1 hour. Bake in pre-heated 350° oven for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. (Do not over-cook or they dry out)
- Brush lightly with powdered sugar frosting while hot from oven. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Makes 5 pans (35 buns)
