Silvery white Cake
Tidbits...This is my basic white cake I use for my white cake pops. It is also a very good dessert cake with cooked frosting, whipped cream or fruit topping.
Ingredients
- Egg whites - 4
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Milk - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Flour - 2 1/4 cups
- Salt - 1/2 tsp.
- Baking powder - 3 1/2 tsp.
- Vanilla - 1 1/2 tsp.
Instructions
- In small bowl let egg whites warm to room temperature, about 1 hour.
- Into large bowl sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Add shortening, milk and vanilla on low speed only until ingredients are combined. At medium speed beat 2 minutes more, scraping sides of bowl. Add unbeaten egg whites and rest of milk. Beat 2 minutes longer.
- Pour batter into greased and floured rectangular 13 by 9 baking pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean in center of cake.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- Shave off or thinly slice golden surface of cake so that when you crumble it , it is pure white.
