Pecan Cinnamon Rolls
Tidbits...I can close my eyes and smell these baking in my mom's kitchen. The aroma is sublime and the memories even sweeter!
Ingredients
- Milk - 3/4 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1 1/2 tsp.
- Butter - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1/3 cup warm
- Dry yeast - 2 pkgs. plus 1 tsp. sugar
- Egg - 1 room temp.
- Flour - 4 cups
- Melted butter - 1/2 cup
- Cinnamon - 3/4 cup with sugar
- Pecans (optional) - 1 cup finely chopped
- Powdered sugar - Glaze
Instructions
- Scald milk, then stir in sugar salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm
- In a large bowl mix yeast with warm water and tsp. of sugar and let rise.
- Add milk mixture, egg and 2 cups of flour . Miz well and add the remaining 2 cups of flour.
- Turn out onto floured surface and knead. Put into buttered bowl and let rise until double.
- Punch down and roll out into rectangle.
- Cover with melted butter and cinnamon sugar and pecans.
- Roll up like jelly roll. and slice.
- Put in well buttered pan, cover and let rise until double. (About 45 minutes)
- Bake at 350˚ for 25-30 minutes until golden. Frost while hot.
