Pear Tatin
Tidbits.....Pear Tatin is a famous French apple torte. This version with pears is equally sublime. It is baked upside down then flipped over to reveal the beautiful carmellized pears in a flaky, nutty crust.
Ingredients
- Pears - 6 Williams
- Dark brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- Single pie crust - 1
- Pecans or Walnuts - 1/4 cup chopped
- Orange zest - 1 orange
- Burro - 1 tsp.
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat sauté pear halves in 1 tsp. butter until slightly tender and golden.
- Transfer to nonstick baking dish, rounded sides down. Sprinkle with brown sugar and orange zest.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts over prepared pie shell, gently press into pastry with rolling pin. Invert crust, nut side down onto pears . Tuck crust around border pinching edges then press down between pears.
- Bake until golden, about 20 minutes at 400°. Remove from oven until pan is cool enough to touch then turn out onto serving dish.
