New York Cheesecake
Tidbits...New York Cheesecake is the best American cheesecake. No matter what the occasion it is a great dessert! It takes a little effort but the results are well worth it. It can be made 1 or 2 days in advance with fresh strawberries or chocolate sauce added at the last moment.
Ingredients
- Cream Cheese - 1000 g. Softened
- Eggs - 4
- Sugar - 1 1/2 cups
- Lemon Zest - 1 lemon
- Vanilla - 1 tsp.
- Milk - 3/4 cup
- Flour - 2 Tbl
- Sour Cream - 1 cup
- Powdered Sugar - 1 cup
- Crust
- Graham crackers - 2 cups crumbs
- Butter - 1 cup melted
Instructions
- Add sugar to softened cream cheese until smooth and blend in milk.
- Add eggs one at a time then vanilla and lemon zest stirring after each addition.
- Stir in flour until mixture is creamy. Do not overmix.
- Pour into prepared crust.
- Cover springform pan with aluminum foil 1/2 way up sides and set springform in oven in a larger pan and pour boiling water half way up sides. Bake at 350˚for 60 minutes until slightly browned and jiggly in center.
- Remove and spread sour cream, powdered sugar and lemon juice mixture overtop. Return to oven for 10 more minutes.
- Remove and let cool for 2 hours. Then cover with Saran and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Top with cut strawberries or melted dark chocolate.
