Chiacchiere (Frappe)
Tidbits... These are traditional Carnevale sweets. For a treat even more tempting they can be dipped in melted chocolate or zabaione.
Ingredients
- Flour - 500 g
- Sugar - 100 g
- Eggs - 3
- Marsala - 60 ml
- Powdered sugar - 2 T
- Peanut oil - 500 ml (for frying)
- Butter - 50 g ( cubed and softened)
Instructions
- Sift flour with sugar.
- Make a mound and mix eggs, cubed softened butter, and vanilla and mix well with hands.
Add Marsala and continue until mixture is smooth and moist. Add 1 or 2 T Marsala if too
dry. - Roll out very thin and cut in rectangles.
- Cut 3 slits in center of each and fry a few a a time in hot oil.
- Remove and drain on paper toweling. Put on plate and sprinkle liberally with powdered
sugar.
